The RIGHT stuff of signage
by JOSE VILLANUEVA
The 4 things I have learned about signage!
The Right Size
It goes without saying that national, and emerging brands want to maximize their signage. It starts with the signage code, and the code starts with the city. Getting to know the city relies on the understanding that when it comes down to it, it is a people-to-people business and if we make the business personal, we will find more success than failure. Having the right people, in the right place, and creating relationships, with those you come to rely upon, while meeting the demands, of the customer, and adapting to the evolution of the retail market that is the right path to take!
The Right Project Manager
Managing the project and the timelines takes true transparency. Customers want to know the truth, not stories. We live in an imperfect world, and to get the job done we deal with multiple entities, both commercial and government, and it is 100% guaranteed that you will have bumps in the road. The consensus is that the most important ingredient in a successful regional or national signage program is the project manager.
The Right Fabricator
Making a sign, as in every other industry, takes constant innovation, upgrades and value added fabrication. Unless you make the necessary changes, you will either be value-engineered, or priced out of the market. I have found that it takes experience as well as a commitment to excellence to fabricate a great sign. We fabricate all of our signs for the Southwest with our Strategic Partner in Arizona, who has the capabilities to bring value-added solutions to any sign program. National Strategic Partners strategically located in the north, south and east coast bring value-added solutions to those regions.
The Right Install Contractors
Completing the project comes down to vetted contractors known for correct installation. There are many anecdotes about silly things that have happened when the wrong installer tries, and fails to install your sign. When taking into consideration that the installers are usually the same contractor that knows the landlords and the city officials, it is important to pick the right ones. Which is why I hand-pick Strategic Partners for each project using a proprietary search engine specifically designed to search for the best install partners in every city in the United States. These Strategic Partners are vetted and rated for their professionalism, competency and performance.
